About RunAICode
RunAICode is an independent review site built by engineers who use AI coding tools in production every single day. No sponsored rankings. No pay-to-play. Just honest assessments from people who ship real code.
Our Mission
The AI coding tool landscape changes weekly. New tools launch, existing ones ship major updates, and marketing claims get wilder by the day. Our mission is simple: help developers cut through the hype and find tools that actually make them more productive.
How We Test
Every tool we review goes through our real-world testing methodology:
- Minimum 2-week evaluation in active production codebases — not toy projects
- Multiple language testing across Python, TypeScript, Go, and infrastructure-as-code
- Real workflow integration — we test in actual CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, and debugging sessions
- Side-by-side comparisons on identical tasks to measure real differences
- Cost analysis including hidden costs like API overages and team licensing
Who’s Behind This
Steve Beckman — Senior Systems Engineer and DevOps specialist with 15+ years building infrastructure at scale. I’ve deployed and managed everything from bare-metal Kubernetes clusters to multi-region cloud architectures. When AI coding assistants started shipping, I became obsessed with figuring out which ones actually work in serious engineering environments.
I built RunAICode because I was tired of reviews written by people who tested tools for 20 minutes on a todo app. The tools I recommend are the ones I actually use in my daily workflow.
Our Values
- Independence — We buy or subscribe to every tool we review. No vendor-provided accounts.
- Transparency — We use affiliate links to keep the lights on, clearly disclosed. Our rankings are never influenced by affiliate relationships.
- Technical depth — Our audience is engineers, not managers reading Gartner reports. We go deep.
- Regular updates — AI tools evolve fast. We re-test and update reviews when major versions ship.
Join the Community
We run an active Discord community where developers share tips, compare tools, and help each other get more out of AI-assisted development. It’s the place to be if you want real talk about what works and what doesn’t.
